Giving Money with No Strings Attached

GiveDirectly employs a model that allows donors to send money directly to the extremely poor, no catch.

In this segment of The Business of Giving, Paul Niehaus, president of the organization, discusses whether large, one-time cash transfers to the poor are more effective than sums given on a regular basis.

The bigger question raised, however, is whether the benefits that the extremely poor derive on their own should be used as a benchmark to gauge the effectiveness of other international aid organizations.
